The Appendix Vergiliana, also called the pseudo-Vergil texts, is a series of poems traditionally ascribed to a young Vergil. While many ancient sources claim that all or some of the texts in the appendix are Vergil's, most modern scholars agree that the texts are from a collection of various authors from the 1st century AD. This attribution is due to the meter, voice, and style of the works, which contrast with the style of authentic Vergil.
The main texts associated with the canon come from the biographer Servius the Grammarian, who wrote that Vergil wrote these poems: Ciris, Aetna, Culex, Priapea, Catalepton, Epigrammata, Copa, and Dirae.
